TVNZ 6 Netguide Multimedia Challenge
Placing 1st in the 2010 TVNZ 6 Schools Multimedia challenge has been an accomplishment for all of us involved. We would like to thank the Board of Trustees and Mr Paton for making this event possible. We were presented our certificate for 1st place by the Minister of Education (The Honourable Mrs Anne Tolley) Our success has made us think of our future career paths in graphic design and game development. We flew out of Christchurch at 6:30am and arrived in Auckland at 8:00am.
We arrived at the TVNZ 6 building at 9:00am just before the ceremony started at 9.30am on Friday 12th of November. Following the awards ceremony we had time to chat to other winners and place-getters from all over New Zealand. That was great as well as sharing in a fantastic light luncheon. Before heading back to the airport we visited the Sky Tower which is located right next door to TVNZ House. None of us had been up the Sky Tower which was so worth the money. A great day and thank you again to all the people that made it happen.
We worked for 3 months on our game (Kiwi Kart) in our lunchtimes, after school with a small number of hours in class time. Kiwi Kart is an awesome racing game. The objective is to upgrade your car, win all the races and get to the top of the scoreboard becoming the…SUPER DEVIL (the highest rank).
The making of Kiwi Kart is made by pixel by pixel drawing which gave it an Arcade style look. It took 100 plus hours to code and put together. The team project managers were Brandon De-Rose, Louis Herriot and Stefan Seizov. We would also like to acknowledge our support crew, Marsyle Scott, Mathew Marshall, Ben Pollock and Cody Fletcher. And with that we say thank you and encourage you year 7’s to enter next year.
